Privacy Policy
In effect 2026-08-22
The short version
- You can use GameDay Live without giving us a name or an email address.
- We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
- The ads you see are ours. No third-party ad networks, no ad SDKs, no cross-site tracking.
- We do not collect your location. Not from the app, not from the website.
- A person on our team reviews every GameDay Pics submission before it appears.
- You can delete your account from the app. Photos you posted stay in the feed, and they stop being linked to you.
Who we are
GameDay Live is operated by GameDay Edge, LLC, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This policy covers the GameDay Live web app and the GameDay Live iOS app. It does not cover our coach-facing products, which serve a different audience and are handled separately: SideLine Scout, SideLine Live, PoolSide Live, SideLine Broadcast and SideLine Scout 360.
Your use of GameDay Live is also governed by our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines. If you upload a photo, the Photo Submission Terms apply to that upload.
How your account works
GameDay Live is anonymous by default. The first time you open it we generate an install id, store it in a first-party cookie named gdl-install-id and open an anonymous session. That id is how the app remembers your teams and your settings. It is not attached to your name, because we never asked for one.
You can sign in if you want your account to work on more than one device. Signing in keeps the same underlying account, so your favorites, preferences and Pick’em history carry over rather than starting fresh. We do not offer password accounts, so there is no GameDay Live password for anyone to lose.
Sign in with Apple is the option in the iOS app, and it asks Apple for nothing. We request no name and no email address, so Apple sends us neither. What we get is the account link itself, which is what makes the same account work on your next device.
On the web you can also sign in with Google or Facebook. Those return whatever their own sign-in hands over, which usually includes an email address and a display name, and it is kept by our authentication provider as part of the sign-in record. Nothing in GameDay Live reads it, and we do not send fans email, so it sits there as proof of the link and nothing else.
What we collect and why
Everything below is either something you gave us on purpose or something the app needs to work. There is no fourth category.
- Install id and session
- A random id in the gdl-install-id cookie, plus an anonymous session. This is how we recognize your install so your settings persist between visits. We store when the install was created and when it was last seen.
- Sign-in identity, if you use it
- The account link your provider returns, so the same account works elsewhere. From Sign in with Apple that is the link and nothing else: no name, no email address.
- Your settings
- Which conferences you want to see, your theme, whether betting lines are shown, whether you opted into notifications, your quiet hours and your notification time zone. These exist so the app shows what you asked it to show.
- Handle and region
- A display name you choose and an optional state or country flag. Both are public to other fans, which is the point of having them.
- Favorite teams
- The teams you follow, in the order you put them. The first three logos appear publicly next to your handle.
- Profile photo, if you upload one
- An avatar image. Avatars are stored in a public bucket and are visible to other fans.
- Crews
- If you create or join a crew we store the crew name, tagline, logo, hero image, colors and the fact that you are a member. Crews are joined through a shared link.
- Pick’em picks
- Your picks and any predicted score. Individual picks are never shown publicly. Crew-mates can see one of your picks only after that game kicks off, and leaderboard records reveal on a daily 9am ET schedule.
- Photos you submit
- The image file, your caption and any team tag. Nothing about where you were. See the location section below.
- Likes, reports and blocks
- Which photos you liked, any photo you reported and any fan you blocked. Reports drive moderation. Blocks are how your own feed stops showing someone.
- Photo terms acceptance
- A record that you accepted the Photo Submission Terms, and which version. We keep it so we can show what you agreed to before an upload happened.
- Push notification subscriptions
- The push token or subscription your device granted, the topics you follow and a log of what we sent, so we do not send you the same alert twice.
- Fan travel card activity
- When a travel card is shown or clicked we record it, along with the school the click credits, the surface it appeared on and, if you are signed in, your user id.
- Web analytics
- Vercel Analytics records page views and a set of named product events on the web app, so we can tell which parts of GameDay Live get used.
Location
We do not collect your location. There is no location prompt in the app, no coordinate in any upload and no column in our database holding where you were. If you have read an older version of this page, or seen an at-the-stadium badge described anywhere, that is gone.
One related thing is worth knowing, and it is about your camera rather than about us. A photo file can carry hidden data the camera wrote into it, including the exact spot the picture was taken.
- The iOS app rebuilds your photo into a new image before it uploads, so the camera data does not travel with it.
- A photo uploaded through the website is stored as you sent it, hidden data and all. If you would rather that data were not in a public photo, take it out before you upload, or post from the app.
We would rather tell you which of those two you are using than promise a guarantee we do not currently enforce on our own server.
What other fans can see
- Your handle, your region flag and your first three favorite team logos.
- Your avatar, if you uploaded one.
- Photos of yours that were approved and marked public, with their captions and tags.
- Your crew name, artwork and membership, to the people in that crew.
- Your Pick’em picks, to crew-mates only, and only after that game has kicked off.
We do not publish your install id or your sign-in identity. Photos appear without a byline, so a submitted photo does not carry your handle either.
Moderation and safety
Every GameDay Pics submission starts as pending and a person on our team approves it before it is visible. Nothing skips that step.
A photo submitted from the app is screened by an automated image check first, which can reject it before any person sees it. A clean automated result is not an approval. It only means the photo reaches a human reviewer.
Avatars and crew artwork work the other way round. They go through the automated screen alone. A flagged image is rejected and the stored file is deleted, a clean image goes live, and if the screen cannot run the image waits for a person rather than publishing unchecked.
Any fan can report a photo, and our team can take down anything after the fact.
Media showing identifiable people gets extra scrutiny. Where consent is absent or unclear, or where a subject may be a minor, the submission stops and goes to a person at GameDay Edge instead of being published. The Community Guidelines and Photo Submission Terms cover what you are agreeing to when you upload.
The automated screen, and what it sends
The automated image check runs at OpenAI. It is worth being exact about how, because it is not what you would guess. We do not send OpenAI a copy of your file. We store the image first, then send OpenAI the link, and OpenAI fetches the image itself to score it. We get back a set of category flags and nothing else.
The free text you type into a report does not go to OpenAI. It is stored and read by a person on our team.
Cookies
Every cookie we set is first-party. We set no advertising cookies and run no cross-site trackers, so there is nothing here to opt out of on that front.
- gdl-install-id
- Your device identity. This is what makes your settings stick.
- gdl-season, gdl-week, gdl-conference
- Which scoreboard view you were last looking at, so you land back on it.
- gdl-countdown
- Remembers that you dismissed the countdown banner.
- gdl-ai-panel
- Your display preference for the AI panel.
- Supabase auth session cookie
- Keeps you signed in.
Who else handles your data
We use a short list of service providers. They process data to run GameDay Live, not for their own purposes.
- Vercel
- Hosts the web app and the API, so every request transits it. Vercel Analytics also produces our page view and product event counts.
- Supabase
- Runs the Postgres database, authentication, file storage for images and the realtime channel that pushes live score updates to your screen.
- OpenAI
- Screens photos, avatars and crew artwork for prohibited content, and generates the AI panel commentary.
- Apple
- Delivers push notifications to an iPhone or iPad. The device token and the alert itself pass through Apple, which is how push works.
We also read content from ESPN, publisher RSS feeds, Bluesky and podcast and radio feeds. That traffic goes one way. We pull scores, rosters, stats and articles from them, and we send them nothing about you. Third-party images are copied into our own storage rather than loaded from someone else’s server, which means those publishers never see your browser.
Web push runs through your own browser’s push service using our VAPID keys.
Mixpanel is planned for the iOS app. It is not switched on, and if it ships this page is updated before it does.
Advertising
The ads on GameDay Live are house ads. They promote GameDay Edge products and nothing else. We run no third-party ad networks, we embed no ad SDKs and we do not sell or share your data for advertising. There is no advertising profile of you here to sell.
A single weekly presented-by sponsor placement is planned. It is not live. If it launches, this policy is updated first.
Fan travel links
The travel card offers trip packages from Trip On Sports, a separate company. When you tap it the link goes through us first so we can record the click and credit the right school, then forwards you to triponsports.com. GameDay Edge may earn a commission on a booking, so treat the card as a paid partnership. Once you are on the Trip On Sports site, their privacy policy governs, not ours.
How long we keep data
We have not set retention periods, and we are not going to print a number nobody has committed to. What is true today is that records stay until you remove them or we do. A photo taken down is marked deleted and its stored file is removed.
Setting real limits per data type is open work, and this section changes when it lands.
Your choices
These controls exist today:
- Change or clear your favorite teams, handle, region and other preferences.
- Remove your avatar.
- Remove crew artwork you uploaded.
- Turn push notifications off, unfollow a topic, or unsubscribe the device entirely.
- Block another fan so their photos stop showing up for you.
- Report a photo.
- Delete your account. In the iOS app it is in Settings, under Account.
- Ask us to take a photo of yours down.
- Clear GameDay Live cookies in your browser. That resets your install id, so anything tied to it stops following you.
What deleting your account does
Deleting removes your account and the things attached to it: your preferences and handle, your favorites, your avatar and its file, your likes, your reports, your blocks, your picks, your push subscriptions, the crews you own and your membership of anyone else’s. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke the sign-in before anything is deleted, and we stop if Apple will not confirm it.
One thing survives on purpose, and it is the sentence to read twice. Photos you posted stay in the GameDay Pics feed, and they stop being linked to you. They already appear without a byline, so what changes is that nothing in our database connects them to an account any more. If you want a photo gone, ask us to remove it before you delete your account, or tell us afterwards which one it was.
There is no delete control on the website yet. Email us and we will do it.
There is also no self-service export. Ask us and a person will put it together.
Children
GameDay Live is not designed for children under 13, and our Terms of Use ask you to be 13 or older to use it. We do not ask your age and nothing in the app verifies it, so we are describing what is true rather than what a checkbox would imply. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or submitted a photo, email us and we will remove it.
We have sketched a supervised experience where a younger fan plays inside a parent’s crew, under the parent’s account, with no personal information collected and sponsor content suppressed. It is not built and it is not available. Nothing here should be read as offering it.
Security
GameDay Live runs on Vercel and Supabase and relies on their platform controls for hosting, database access and file storage. The administrative tools that can view or remove content require a provisioned GameDay Edge staff account with the specific permission for that area. No system is perfectly secure and we are not going to claim ours is.
One limit is worth naming rather than leaving you to find out. An image file in GameDay Live sits at a web address that works for anyone holding it, including while a photo is still waiting for review. The address contains a random id, so it is not something a person can guess or list, but it is not a lock either. Treat anything you upload as capable of leaving the app.
Where this policy applies
GameDay Live is built for college football fans in the United States, and the web app is reachable from anywhere. We have not finished working out how specific state and non-US privacy laws apply to us, so this page makes no claim about your rights under a named statute. When that analysis lands, the rights it produces get their own section here.
In the meantime, the controls above are open to anyone, wherever you are, and so is the email address below. We do not intend to make a fan quote a statute to get an answer.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we update this page and change the date at the top. The photo terms carry a version number as well, and a change there asks you to accept the new wording before your next upload.
