Photo Submission Terms
In effect 2026-08-22 · Version 2.0
These terms cover the rights side of submitting a photo to GameDay Live. Who owns it. What we may do with it. How you get it taken down. What you may and may not submit is a separate subject, covered in the Community Guidelines. Both apply to every submission.
What you are confirming
Submitting a photo is you telling us all of the following. If any of it is not true, do not submit the photo.
- You took the photo, or you otherwise hold the rights to it. A photo you found online, screenshotted from a broadcast or saved from someone else’s account is not yours to submit.
- Nobody else has to sign off on it. No photographer you hired, no agency, no publication, no school.
- Everyone identifiable in it has agreed to appear in GameDay Live. Identifiable means a person could be recognised, including from a uniform, a number or a name on a jersey.
- If anyone in it is under 18, a parent or legal guardian has agreed.
- Sharing it does not break a law, a contract or a venue rule that applies to you. Some stadiums and some credentials restrict what you can publish.
You keep your photo
You own your photo. Submitting it does not transfer ownership and does not limit what you do with it anywhere else. You can sell it, post it, license it or delete it. You are giving GameDay Edge, LLC permission to use it, and nothing more than that.
The permission you are giving
You grant GameDay Edge, LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to do these things, and only these things, with a photo you submit.
- Store your photo and display it in GameDay Live, on the web and in the iOS app.
- Resize, crop, compress, re-encode and thumbnail it so it loads quickly and fits the layout.
- Show it in material that promotes GameDay Live itself. A screenshot of the app, our own app store listing, our own social posts.
- Pass it to the companies that host GameDay Live for us, only as far as they need it to store the file and serve it to readers.
That list is the whole licence. Royalty-free means we do not pay you for your photo. Non-exclusive means the photo stays just as much yours to use elsewhere.
- What it does not cover
- We do not sell your photo. We do not license it to anyone else, including a school, a conference or a media partner. We do not put it in a paid advertisement or in a sponsor’s material. We do not use it in the SideLine products we sell to coaches. If we ever want to do any of that we have to come back and ask you.
- How long it lasts
- The licence ends when the photo comes down, whether you asked us to remove it or we removed it ourselves.
- Credit
- We do not publish your name or your handle next to a submitted photo. Photos appear without a byline.
These terms carry a version number, and the version is what your acceptance is recorded against. If the wording changes in a way that matters, the app asks you to accept the new version before your next submission. This is version 2.0.
People in your photos
This is the part we are strictest about, and it is where a submission is most likely to be stopped.
- Get permission before you submit, not after. If you cannot get it, do not submit the photo.
- Players, coaches, officials, band members and staff are identifiable people too. Someone being at a public event is not the same as that person agreeing to appear in our app.
- Where it is not clear that everyone in a photo agreed, we stop. The photo stays unpublished while it is unclear. Unclear is treated as no, never as probably fine.
- Where anyone in a photo may be under 18, we stop, and the submission is held and routed to a person at GameDay Edge, LLC before anything is published.
Those last two are a hard rule inside GameDay Edge, LLC. Support cannot wave a submission through them and neither can we.
Children
GameDay Live does not ask your age and has no separate experience for children. Do not submit a photo of a child unless you are that child’s parent or guardian, or you have their parent’s or guardian’s permission.
If you are a parent or guardian and you find a photo of your child in GameDay Live, tell us using the routes below. We will take it down. You do not have to prove anything to us first.
Review before your photo appears
A person at GameDay Edge, LLC looks at every photo submission before it appears anywhere in GameDay Live. Until then it sits in a queue. On a submission from the app an automated check runs first and can reject a photo before any person sees it. A clean automated result is not an approval, it only means the photo reaches a human reviewer.
We do not publish how long review takes and we make no commitment about it. People do this work, and a Saturday with a full slate is a different day from a Tuesday.
Profile photos and crew artwork work differently. Those are screened automatically and can go live without a person looking first. We can still take them down afterwards.
We can decline, remove or take down anything you submit, at any time, for any reason or for no stated reason, and we do not owe you an explanation. That includes a photo that was already approved and already live. We are not obliged to publish anything.
What we do to your image file
We may resize, crop and re-encode a stored image so it loads quickly on a phone. The version other people see may not be byte for byte the file you sent us.
The other half of this is about your camera rather than about us. A camera file usually carries hidden data, which commonly includes the spot the photo was taken, the exact time and the device model.
- From the iOS app, your photo is rebuilt into a new image before it is sent, so that data does not come with it.
- From the website, the file is stored as you sent it. Whatever was in it is still in it.
Our server does not strip that data itself, so we are telling you which path does what rather than promising something we do not enforce. If it matters to you, submit from the app, or clear the data from the file first.
We do not ask where you were
GameDay Live collects no location. There is no location prompt, nothing in an upload carries a coordinate, and no photo of yours has a position stored against it. Any at-the-stadium badge you may have read about does not exist.
Taking your own photo down
You can ask us to remove a photo you submitted, at any time, without giving a reason.
There is no self-service delete button. The two routes that work are the report control on the photo itself, in the app, and email to [email protected] with the subject line Image Removal Request. Say which photo, and name the team or the game if you can, so we find the right one.
When we take a photo down we delete the stored image file and mark the record removed, so we stop serving it. We keep a record that the photo existed and was removed.
Here is the honest limit. We cannot claw back copies that have already left us. If your photo was live, someone may have saved it or screenshotted it, and caches and content delivery networks may hold a copy for a while after we delete ours. Removal stops us from serving your photo. It does not erase every copy of it in the world. Nobody can promise you that, so we are not going to.
If you delete your account
Photos you posted stay in the GameDay Pics feed, and they stop being linked to you. They already publish without a byline, so what changes is that nothing in our records connects them to an account.
If you want a photo gone as well, ask us to remove it before you delete your account, or tell us afterwards which one it was. Deleting the account is not a way of taking your photos down, and we would rather say so here than let you find out.
If the photo is yours, or you are in it
Two different complaints, and the same starting point for both.
- You hold the rights to a photo somebody else submitted. Tell us. We take it down while we look into it.
- You appear in a photo and you never agreed to it. Tell us. We take it down while we look into it.
Use the report control on the photo, or email [email protected]. Reporting from inside the app is the better route because it attaches your report to the exact photo, so nobody has to work out which one you mean.
For a copyright claim, tell us which photo it is, what you hold the rights to, how to reach you, and that you believe the use is not authorised. That is enough for us to act on. We have not registered a designated copyright agent with the Copyright Office, and we would rather tell you that than imply a formal process we do not have. The email address above is the channel that reaches us.
A fan who keeps submitting photos that are not theirs loses the ability to submit.
Changes to these terms
We can update these terms. When the wording changes in a way that matters, the version number moves and you are asked to accept the new version before your next submission.
